NANOEDMO Day 6: I wrote what?

  • Mar. 6th, 2008 at 4:59 PM
The Good News

  • I'm six days into NanoEdmo and I have about 9 hours of editing of Primary Partners done.
  • I rather like my main characters. They are quirky and a little goofy.
  • The sexual tension is strong.
  • For 50K words, there's even a little depth of character and story

The Bad News

  • I can't remember writing half of this stuff
  • There is no art to this draft at all and I like my other novels better
  • While the sexual tension is hot, the actual sex scenes almost all rapidly fade to black. Why am I being so coy?
  • I'm averaging three hours of editing per chapter and since there are 19 chapters, at this rate, it's a bad sign.
  • I'm having to write brand new scenes to make up for a decided lack of transitions
  • I have much research to do.

The Zone
I often don't remember a lot of what I write when I am in the zone, whether it's code or prose.

I usually find that I mostly like it, but have to either refactor or edit it to make it perfect.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

And I have no idea why you'd be so coy.

Re: The Zone
You know, not so long ago, Adam and I were talking and we had this "brilliant" idea for a blessing command on Firan. The next morning I woke up early and logged in to start coding it up, and found a file with the code already written.

It turns out Adam and I had apparently had this idea before, that he'd already coded it, and we'd promptly forgotten all about it. :P
